Fortnight for Religous Freedom

June 23rd, 2012

Please join us in prayer from now until July 4th for religious freedom in America!

From the USCCB site:

Prayer for the Protection of Religious Liberty

O God our Creator,

Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit,
you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world,
bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel
to every corner of society.

We ask you to bless us
in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty.
Give us the strength of mind and heart
to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened;
give us courage in making our voices heard
on behalf of the rights of your Church
and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith.

Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father,
a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters
gathered in your Church
in this decisive hour in the history of our nation,
so that, with every trial withstood
and every danger overcome—
for the sake of our children, our grandchildren,
and all who come after us—
this great land will always be “one nation, under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Quote for the Day

“The challenge facing you, dear friends, is to increase people’s awareness of the importance for society of religious freedom; to defend that freedom against those who would take religion out of the public domain and establish secularism as America’s official faith.  And it is vitally necessary for the very survival of the American experience, to transmit to the next generation the precious legacy of religious freedom and the convictions which sustain it.”—  Blessed John Paul II, 1995 Baltimore, Basilica of the Assumption

Do Not Lose Heart! Never Despair, but Always Persevere in Prayer

October 24th, 2010

From Our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI:

“God is generosity itself.  He is merciful, and so He is always willing to listen to prayers.

Therefore, we must never despair, but always persevere in prayer.”

Blessing for Home

March 6th, 2010

I abide in the presence of God’s love.

I bless my home as a place of comfort and rest,
a place where beauty and graciousness are
expressed and experienced. The atmosphere of
my home is permeated with love and peace, light
and sunshine. My home is a space for refreshment,
renewal and mental and physical well-being because
the love of God is reflected in this space.  I bless and
value everyone who enters my home. I practice
patience, cooperation and respect and do all I can to
create a haven where every family member and guest
feels God; Spirit of love, peace and joy within these walls
I am grateful for my home and for the privilege it affords
me of expressing grace, beauty and hospitality

Those who love me … we will come to them and make
our home with them.–John 14:23

Dear God:

I surrender this day to You.  May it be used for Your purposes.

I ask only that my heart be open to give love and receive love.

May all the results unfold according to Your will.

Amen.
