From Pope Benedict XVI:
“I find myself on the last stretch of my journey in life, and I don’t know what is awaiting me.”

“I know, however, that the light of God exists, that he is risen, that his light is stronger than any darkness and that God’s goodness is stronger than any evil in this world, and this helps me go forward with certainty.”

Happy 85th  Birthday, Holy Father!!!!

One of the Best Movies of the Year: October Baby

March 28th, 2012

I didn’t expect to be blown away. But I was.

Apparently I wasn’t the only one.  This movie was rejected by the major studios and yet it has become a sleeper hit — blitzing the box offices and coming in second only to Hunger Games.

It’s a complete blockbuster of a movie.  And it deserves every bit of its success.

I was mesmerized from the start of the movie and couldn’t take my eyes off of the screen until the end. I haven’t cried this much since “Les Miserables,” and haven’t seen this good a movie in a long, long time.

I imagine that you’ve heard the premise.  A young girl discovers a secret about her past which shakes her world.  She then takes a journey to find out who she really is.

Or as one viewer (Jan Scruggs) eloquently put it:

“As the mother of three adopted children,I think this film is a must-see for all that want to understand more about the heart-ripping journey that all adopted children must take as they come to terms with being rejected by one family and wanted by another……………There was not a “dry eye in the house” because all ages were touched by this hurting teenager searching for meaning to her life. We have all been there.”

See http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1720182/reviews

It’s an incredible story, and if you watch it you won’t be disappointed.

Movie viewers at Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 94%

Some of the professional reviewers hated it.

I couldn’t figure out what in the world they could find wrong with it.  But then I saw their reviews, and realized that what they said told me more about the reviewers than it did about the movie. It appears that others had the same impression.*

I urge you to go and see the movie for yourself.  You won’t regret it.

Please Pray for Our Supreme Court this Monday Morning, March 26!

See: Liberty and Obamacare

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304724404577291762007718228.html?mod=googlenews_wsj

The Supreme Court is deciding an issue that may have an enormous effect on our Constitutional freedom. From the Wall Street Journal:

“Few legal cases in the modern era are as consequential, or as defining, as the challenges to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that the Supreme Court hears beginning Monday. The powers that the Obama Administration is claiming change the structure of the American government as it has existed for 225 years. Thus has the health-care law provoked an unprecedented and unnecessary constitutional showdown that endangers individual liberty.”

So please pray for our Supreme Court and for the United States of  America!

If you would like to pray the rosary with others, here is a lovely site to help:

The Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, which called for a central financial authority, does not have Papal authority

October 24th, 2011
by goforthandblog

This is the origin of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace — it is a Catholic Think Tank of Sorts. The bottom line is that this statement is not — I repeat, NOT — from the Pope

See…. http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/pontifical_councils/justpeace/index.htm

So when news agencies purport that the VATICAN issued a statement regarding  ”Reforming the international financial system with a view toward a general public Authority, “  what they’re talking about is a Catholic agency, and NOT the POPE!

It is all right to try to analyze solutions to combat poverty, but a central financial authority is nothing but bad news.  It doesn’t take into consideration that (by analyzing those who aspire to the position), all indications point towards an ironic conundrum, that the very thing that is supposed to protect everyone from the bad guys will inevitably be a  “Big Brother“ – the biggest baddest guy of all. It doesn’t take into consideration how power corrupts. It doesn’t take into consideration that at its core the kind of political machine that would result, Communism,  is by its nature envy-driven, historically antithetical to Christianity and ultimately evil.

And it doesn’t take into consideration that there is a serious deception behind the Occupy protests — they are not what they claim to be.

We are all for justice. But liberal Catholicism and this kind of reckless statement is naive at best and quite damaging at its worst. It is not what the Catholic church believes. It is not what the Pope says.

The Catholic Church has always spoken the Truth. Popular or unpopular, the True Church has always been on the side of Life and of the kind of goodness that built America.   So this misconception, that the Church is calling for a central financial authority, must be challenged.

The statement is from an agency — NOT from the Pope. And that is the Truth.

————————————————————-

Update Feb 24, 2012

You know, I knew that something was wrong with this

agency (The Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace) and wrong with this idea when I first heard it.  I wasn’t sure exactly why it was advocating for such things — it just didn’t ring true. But after reading a little bit more about the group, now I understand.

Not everything that sounds good is good.  There’s this saying that the devil can quote scripture for his own purposes.  I’ve been reading a lot about George Soros lately, and how he’s been pouring money into lots of terrific sounding agencies, including the so called “America’s Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good,” which supported Barack Obama for President.  That sounds so great, doesn’t it? So does everything this agency says in the way it phrases things.

But check out this article, actually written in 2009, about the council that issued this statement regarding a Central Global Financial Authority:

http://romancatholicworld.wordpress.com/2009/10/23/the-vatican-and-the-growing-salesian-presence/

The Secretary of “ The Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace” praises and quotes billionaire George Soros.  I’ll list a few links here as to why this is a problem (to say the least) that an agency that admires George Soros is calling for a Central Global Financial Authority, but suffice to say that George Soros is not pro-Catholic in any way shape or form. He is also (to say the least) not someone you want monkeying around in your financial system. Just ask London, the Eastern Bloc and in a few years, the United States. Better yet, Google the guy and find out who he really is.  We are in a day and age when we can’t just take what is said to us at face value or as the truth.  We have to find that out for ourselves — do our own research.

Here’s just a little bit about Soros, in case you were wondering. Soros pours millions of dollars into numerous, sometimes ironically named agencies designed to support — be the backbone in fact– of the culture of death agenda.  George’s nice-sounding named agencies, as well as the less nice sounding ones like Planned Parenthood, Naral, and the Project on Death (supporting euthanasia), are virulently anti-Catholic and anti Christian.  With him the end justifies the means. He is probably chuckling that his very own “Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good” was instrumental in bringing down the Catholic church’s most fundamental religious freedoms. I am referring to the recent persecution and possible annihilation of  American Catholic agencies due to fellow “Catholic” Kathleen Sebelius’ demand that Catholics do what they consider a mortal sin or be severely punished by law. See http://michellemalkin.com/2012/01/31/first-they-came-for-the-catholics/

But despite the assault on Catholics, the idea presented by this Vatican agency is not a good one. Check out just a few of these links to see why (esp. the first link which will give you the story about how George Soros influenced the  London, European economies etc., made out like a bandit, and left behind quite a disastrous financial wake):

From Our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI:

“God is generosity itself.  He is merciful, and so He is always willing to listen to prayers.

Therefore, we must never despair, but always persevere in prayer.”
